Our Teaching Philosophy

Heather Westenhofer Yoga offers physical yoga classes based in the teachings of the Yoga Sutras. The Sutras provide an ethical foundation for the practice and keep it in perspective: getting comfortable in our bodies allows us to breathe easier, and breathing easier allows us to show up in a healthy way for ourselves, our loved ones, and the larger world.

We are committed to meeting students where they are, whether you are looking to drop in for stretching or ready to take the practice beyond the postures. Our membership program includes a detailed intake process and regular one-on-one instructor check-ins to help guide you on your yoga path.

About Me

Heather Westenhofer has completed yoga teacher training programs through Cloud Nine Yoga and Siddhi Yoga, and also holds a Level 1 Yoga Philosophy certification from Dr. Shyam Ranganathan.

A long-time yoga practitioner, Heather “quit her day job” in 2014 and began sharing the art and science of yoga with seekers from local studios to national conferences.  Her teaching is based in hatha yoga for people of all backgrounds and bodies.

Heather especially enjoys integrating the study of yoga ethics, breathwork, and meditation into physical yoga classes. Her ultimate teaching objective is for each of her students to find rest in the teacher within themselves.

Frequently Asked Questions

For in-person classes, advance registration allows the instructor to contact you in the event of last-minute cancellation. Walk-in students are accepted if space is available.

Our in-person meeting space is inside The Music Room, a dance studio located at 327 W. Collins Ave. in Orange, CA.

The Music Room is a dance studio located in a large warehouse. Our practice room has climate control, mirrors (which may or may not be used in class) and a Marley floor. At times in the evening there may be moderate noise from neighboring classes.

The studio provides a limited number of mats and blocks which are free to use.

The Music Room has a large, free parking lot.

There are two lobby doors at The Music Room. For morning classes, the door marked 325 with the "Heather Westenhofer Yoga" sign will be open 15 minutes prior to class. For evening classes, the main lobby door marked 327 will be open, ask the front desk to direct you to the "Aerial Silks" room.

For livestream classes, you will receive a zoom link via email upon registration. The instructor will lead primarily with verbal cues (demonstrating as needed) while observing the students on camera. Of course, you are welcome to practice with your camera off if you prefer.

If finances are a limiting factor for you, contact Heather at [email protected]. A trial period may be negotiated on a case by case basis. Dedicated students will not be turned away for lack of funds.
